Thanksgiving Blessings
Just a short note to say, “Thanksgiving blessings to you!”
I am so thankful for your support! You are truly a blessing to me. With so many voices out there to listen to, I am sincerely grateful you’ve chosen to be here!
It is my hope to encourage you and that together we can strengthen each other as we walk with the Lord through the battle of life.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Philippians 1:3-5 ESV
Thanksgiving is for being thankful, but sometimes we just don’t feel thankful. Life can feel heavy and it’s hard to pick our self up. But being thankful is important and helpful. Why? We explain on our latest podcast, Seeds of Hope with Del and Penny, below.

Are you cooking turkey or ham this year? If it’s ham for you as it is me, here’s an easy, yummy recipe for raisin sauce to go with your ham:
Bring to a boil 1 ½ cup water
Add ¾ cup raisins and simmer about 5 minutes til softened
Stir in 1/3 cup brown sugar and a pinch of salt
Slowly stir in 1 tsp cornstarch; continue stirring til thickened
(Check out my easy, no-bake cream cheese cherry pie recipe on my last blog here.)
I’d love to hear what you’re thanking God for this Thanksgiving, and what you’re cooking. Got an easy recipe to share? Join the conversation in the comments.
And let me know how I can pray for you.
Again, thank you! And I pray you find many Thanksgiving blessings to be thankful for.
Hugs, Penny
My passion is for us all to re-ignite our prayer lives and change our world. If you’d like to re-ignite your prayer life, or you’re looking your next devotional or group Bible study, I invite you to check out Pursuing Prayer – Being Effective in a Busy World. I’d love you to share it with friends and family (gift idea?) so they too can re-ignite their prayers in a world that desperately needs more prayer.

I’m thankful for God’s wonderful sense of humor, and His involvement in our lives. Recently I got another fund raising letter from an organization I had donated to in the past. With out prayer first, I was going to discard the envelope without even reading the text. My wife Judy later in the day asked what I wanted to do with it and I remembered to ask God whether to respond or not. Well the answer was to donate. And when I first asked God if $50 was enough, the answer was NO. Then I asked about sending $75 and the answer was Yes so I wrote a check for $75 and quickly put the return mail in our mailbox before going off for my Friday golf game. Later that same day after golf a friend I had loaned a used driver shaft came up to me and put, wait, (you guessed it), 75 dollars in my hand. I could almost see the smile on Gods face as I realized what had just gone down!
Thanksgiving this year is hard for me. My mind thinks it’s two months away but instead, it’s tomorrow!!
I usually LOVE 💕 the holidays and all that they encompass!!
But this year I can’t catch the groove. And this year it’s really important that I do because my kids need it so much! These babies of mine have been through so much emotional turmoil and torment that my heart is so broken it has incapacitated me to “get up” and “get going” to make this special time of year a happy and safe one for them.
Penny you inspire me to push through. I’m not going to lie, but there are days I don’t want to push through and I want to instead, throw the biggest fit, curl up in the fetal position, cry my heart out, and go to sleep for hours (which I have done… just sayin’), but the things that are constant in my life (such as your years of friendship) are some of what get me back up again. It’s so difficult but it does get me up.
Thank you for blogs. I love seeing your name come across my screen when I get a new email alert from you, Penny Cooke, that you have a new blog post to read.
God Bless and a very Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁🍽 to you and your family!
Wow! What an awesome story! Thanks for blessing me with it, Richard. And Happy Thanksgiving!
Aww, Judy. I will be praying extra hard for you during these holidays. Thank you for sharing the real, rawness of your feelings. Find the wonder…count the gifts…it really has an affect on you and everyone around you. God is still good, even when our lives don’t seem to be. He IS working all things for good. Stay close to Him and HIS peace and joy and strength that are beyond our human understanding. Read your Bible (Psalms are great when you feel that way) and pray pray pray, even if it’s just a weak “help.” He is there, and as Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Stay close to His closeness. Love your sweet heart! xoxo
