I am a Certified Biblical Life Coach, Bible teacher and writer, as well as an avid pray-er. I traded my career as a decorator for women’s ministry and writing. Formerly a sewing teacher, I now would rather sow into people’s lives and see their hearts decorated with Jesus.
I have served in women’s ministry for over 30 years where I have taught numerous Bible studies and seen God move through many prayers. I have seen God’s power work through my own marriage, my son’s addiction, and many other prayers large and small.
Whether teaching, writing or coaching, I strive to encourage, inspire and equip believers with the Word of God and see them empowered by His Spirit through prayer for this battle we call life. My passion now is to see women (and men) rise up (or kneel down) and pray more often and more fervently. I desire all believers to have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
I am a member of Word Weavers International, the American Writers and Speakers Association, and the Biblical Coaching Alliance.
I enjoy weaving words together, coordinating sentences just as I did with colors and fabrics. I love the challenge of making interesting and thought-provoking paragraphs that will ultimately bless others. But I didn’t always share what I wrote. I tucked my writing away along with the desire. Then one day I was given the opportunity to write a column for an on-line Christian women’s magazine. Soon after, a friend asked me if I’d like to go with her to a writer’s conference. Yes! I didn’t have to think twice. You see, I had been writing a Bible study on prayer for the women at my church. I went to the writer’s conference, but I wondered what I was doing there. Would anyone ever publish me? Then, I won first place for my Pursuing Prayer Bible Study at the conference! This was just the boost of confidence I needed. Eventually I got that greatly-desired email every writer covets: “We’d like to offer you a contract for Pursuing Prayer.” Pursuing Prayer – Being Effective in a Busy World, released from New Hope Publishers in November, 2019. I have also been a contributor to Heart Renovation – A Construction Guide to Godly Character, Lighthouse Bible Studies (2018), and Let the Earth Rejoice, Worthy Inspired (2017). I have written for CBN.com and Thoughts-About-God.com, and have been a columnist for Blessed Living Women’s E-Magazine. I also enjoy offering encouragement through my blog.
Two Cents Worth About Penny
My husband and I are originally from Massachusetts, but we have lived in Florida for 28 years. We have three grown children and seven grandchildren. I love anything creative – refinishing furniture shabby chic style, decorating, sewing and crafts, and writing. I’m trying to garden, but I don’t have the green thumb my mom had. Maybe I need to start talking to my plants like she did, but I’m afraid my neighbors will start talking. I love playing word games – Boggle and Bananagrams are my favorites. I love any game or cards that gets people gathered around a table socializing.
And that brings me to foods… I pretty much eat healthy; I eat organic as much as I can. One of my favorite meals is salad made with my own salad dressing. However, I do love chocolate cake with homemade chocolate frosting. Yum! And pancakes – but they’ve got to be gluten free and with real maple syrup. Yes, I’m gluten free, also.
I also play the guitar, but I hardly pick it up anymore (no pun intended). And Penny is my real name, not Penelope and certainly not Nickel!
Citrus Salad Dressing Recipe:
2 Cups organic extra virgin olive oil
3/4 Cup raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar
Juice from 1 large fresh orange
Juice from 1 fresh lemon
2-3 cloves garlic crushed
1/4 Cup organic pure maple syrup
+/- 1 tsp sea salt
+/- 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tsp oregano
1 tbsp parsley flakes
Couple dashes Cayenne pepper
Shake all together well in a Mason jar or blend in blender.
This is the little black Bible I grew up reading. It’s held together today by black electrical tape. They say if someone’s Bible is falling apart, they probably aren’t. True – what holds me together each and every day of my life are the words in this book. I know from experiencing life with its many difficulties and challenges that in this book, along with much connection with its Writer [prayer], we find comfort and answers to every trial, every question, every hurt we’ll ever face. I’m passionate about sharing with you through my writing, speaking or coaching how I’ve come to this conclusion. I’d love to stay in touch.
