Bless This Food to Our Body… (What’s on YOUR plate?) (Part 2 of 4)

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 John 2 ESV

Do you know what’s on your plate? Just what is in the food we pray for God to bless?

I’ll never forget the vet telling us not to feed the dog table food because it’s causing dogs to get cancer in record numbers. Why are our doctors not telling us not to eat the food on our table because it causes us to get cancer in increasing numbers?

In reality, dog food made from the same sources as our food would likely cause cancer in them anyway. But I thought it crazy that table food is supposedly okay for us but not for our beloved pets.

Consider these maladies, which are steadily and alarmingly on the rise:

Allergies and Asthma
Alzheimer’s and Dementia
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Celiac Disease and many other autoimmune diseases
Irritable Bowl Syndrome, Leaky Gut and other digestive problems
Sleep disorders
Thyroid diseases
And there are more. And they are expected to continue to rise.

In my last blog I provided information about today’s wheat and why “I’m bootin’ the gluten.” Gluten (in wheat, barley and rye) is not the same today as our ancestors ate. But gluten is only one course of the meal

Time for another course.

(Drum roll, please.)

Generously serving the herbicide, Glyphosate

Commonly known as Roundup, the commercial grade is doused on wheat and other crops just before harvest to increase yield.

Have you ever seen pictures of farmers spraying crops with gas-masks and full protective suits?
More info here.  The even sell pesticide respirators on Amzn.

Yet, it’s safe to eat?

Yes, that is what is in your healthy bread and cereal and that yummy cake and cookies, and anything else made with wheat and other non-organic grains.

Sorry to ruin your meal.

Glyphosate is highly toxic. And it grows into the plants and even gets into the soil and grows into them that way. Furthermore, animals are fed these grains, so we’re getting it in our meat, dairy and eggs, and even farm-raised fish (What? Fish are fed gmo/chemical-laden corn?)!

Isn’t it sickening? (Pun intended!)

I won’t get into why this toxic chemical is allowed in our food supply and toted as safe. I will just say, the bottom line is some people’s pockets, NOT OUR HEALTH.

…they were greedy for money…
1 Samuel 8:3 NLT

And I won’t even get into how herbicides and pesticides are killing bees.

Other countries want no part of the grains we grow. That ought to spoil our appetite in itself.

Now let’s add another course to the already contaminated meal on our plate — GMOs (genetically modified organisms). These are plants that have been genetically altered so they are more resistant to insects, viruses and drought. There is much debate about their risks and safety. Supporters of GMOs say they make food production more efficient and economical (to whom?) and are perfectly safe. But health experts say GMOs are linked to increased health problems.

This is why gluten is only one part of the problem. Many gluten-free products are made from grains which are genetically modified and sprayed with the herbicide Glysophate, in addition to pesticides. Then they’re preserved with more chemicals, not to mention added processed sugars which also have herbicides and pesticides, and food dyes. So one must be careful even of the gluten-free label.

Cocktail of chemicals to go with your meal, anyone?

This is why I find it ironic when we pray before our meals, “Bless this food to our bodies, may it nourish us,” then proceed to consume an array of genetically modified, processed, chemical-laden foods which are nothing like God created to nourish our bodies.

A margarine commercial back in the 70’s gave us the proverbial saying, “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature.” Mother Nature isn’t fooled at all.

But we have been.

Too many of us believe something is healthy and safe if the food company says it is. Mark Twain said, “It’s easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.” The proof should be the ailments in our bodies. But are we paying attention to what our bodies are telling us?

We are what we eat.

But we are, quite frankly, addicted to the convenience and taste of our modern foods — so much so that many of us don’t even know what real food tastes like.

Our bodies are intricate and incredible, but they were not made to digest the kinds and amounts of toxins present in our modern food supply.

“We are increasingly challenging our physiology with ingredients
for which we are not genetically prepared.”
David Perlmutter, MD, Grain Brain  © 2013

Maybe our increased modern sicknesses are a side effect from the chemicals and genetically modified food we eat.

These foods don’t bless our bodies, they mess up our bodies!

They mess our bodies by destroying our gut bacteria and damaging our digestive track. This results in numerous ill effects on our health according to many experts, including Dr. David Perlmutter, mentioned above, and Dr. Stephanie SeneffSenior Research Scientist at MIT.1 I will get into that more in my next blog, which will give a bit more understanding about how these toxins cause inflammation, which causes all kinds of problems in the body, including the brain.

Organic and non-GMO is the safest alternative.

I’ll also be giving you tips on changing your diet and affording more organic foods.

My hope and prayer is that you will be able to realistically pray, “Bless this food to our body.”
