I’ll never forget the vet telling us not to feed the dog table food because it’s causing dogs to get cancer in record numbers. Why are our doctors not telling usnot to eat the food on our table because it causes us to get cancer in increasing numbers?
Consider these maladies, which are steadily and alarmingly on the rise:
In my last blog I provided information about today’s wheat and why “I’m bootin’ the gluten.” Gluten (in wheat, barley and rye) is not the same today as our ancestors ate. But gluten is only one course of the meal.
Time for another course.
(Drum roll, please.)
Commonly known as Roundup, the commercial grade is doused on wheat and other crops just before harvest to increase yield.
Sorry to ruin your meal.
Glyphosate is highly toxic. And it grows into the plants and even gets into the soil and grows into them that way. Furthermore, animals are fed these grains, so we’re getting it in our meat, dairy and eggs, and even farm-raised fish.
This is just sickening! (Pun intended!)
I won’t get into why this toxic chemical is allowed in our food supply and toted as safe. I will just say, the bottom line is some people’s pockets, NOT OUR HEALTH.
Other countries want no part of the grains we grow. That ought to spoil our appetite in itself.
Now let’s add another course to the already contaminated meal on our plate — GMOs (genetically modified organisms). These are plants that have been genetically altered so they are more resistant to insects, viruses and drought. There is much debate about their risks and safety. Supporters of GMOs say they make food production more efficient and economical (to whom?) and are perfectly safe. But health experts say GMOs are linked to increased health problems.
Cocktail of chemicals to go with your meal, anyone?
A margarine commercial back in the 70’s gave us the proverbial saying, “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature.” Mother Nature isn’t fooled at all.
But we have been.
Too many of us believe something is healthy and safe if the food company says it is. Mark Twain said, “It’s easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.” The proof should be the ailments in our bodies. But are we paying attention to what our bodies are telling us?
We are what we eat.
But we are, quite frankly, addicted to the convenience and taste of our modern foods — so much so that many of us don’t even know what real food tastes like.

Maybe our increased modern sicknesses are a side effect from the chemicals and genetically modified food we eat.
